Extend & Variation

Extend short sound effects and create variations for dynamic, non-repetitive audio

Overview

Transform and expand your Wubble-generated sound effects with our extension and variation capabilities. Our AI analyzes your SFX's characteristics and intelligently extends or creates variations while maintaining coherence and natural flow.

ℹ️

Wubble-Generated Audio Only

SFX extension and variation are currently only supported for audio that was generated on Wubble. This ensures our AI has full context of the sound's structure for optimal results.

⚠️

Not Available via API

SFX extension is currently only available through the Wubble web interface via our conversational chat and is not accessible via API endpoints.

SFX Extension

Naturally extend short effects while maintaining character

Variation Generation

Create multiple variations to prevent repetition

Evolving SFX

Generate sounds that transform and evolve over time

Perfect For

Extending short Wubble-generated SFX to match longer durations
Creating sound families for game audio randomization
Building evolving ambient soundscapes and textures
Generating UI sound variations for responsive interfaces

SFX Extension

Extend short sound effects to longer durations while maintaining their sonic characteristics. Our AI analyzes your Wubble-generated SFX and automatically determines the ideal extension duration to maintain coherence.

How It Works

Wubble analyzes your source SFX to understand its acoustic DNA, then generates continuation material that extends naturally:

1

Acoustic Analysis

AI analyzes spectral content, temporal envelope, texture, and energy characteristics of the source

2

Character Extraction

Identifies the defining characteristics that make the sound unique and recognizable

3

Natural Continuation

Generates extension material that flows naturally from the original with appropriate energy and evolution

4

Seamless Blending

Ensures smooth transition between original and extended sections without audible seams or discontinuities

Intelligent Duration Selection

Rather than specifying an exact duration, our AI analyzes your SFX and automatically determines the ideal length for the extension. This ensures:

  • Sonic coherence is maintained throughout the extension
  • The sound doesn't feel artificially stretched or become unnatural
  • Natural transitions and energy flow from start to finish
  • Appropriate pacing for the sound's character and purpose

Using the Chat

SFX extension is available through our conversational chat interface. Simply ask to extend your sound effect within an existing project.

Example Prompts

"Extend this sound effect"

"Make this impact longer with a sustained tail"

"Extend this whoosh to match my video duration"

Variation Generation

Create multiple variations of a sound effect to prevent repetition fatigue. Essential for games, interactive media, and any context where the same sound is triggered repeatedly.

Why Variations Matter

Using the exact same sound repeatedly becomes noticeable and annoying. Subtle variations create:

  • Naturalness: Real-world sounds are never identical
  • Immersion: Variations keep audio fresh and engaging
  • Professional polish: Randomized variations signal attention to detail
  • Reduced fatigue:Players/listeners don't tire of the sound as quickly

Variation Types

Pitch Variations

Subtle pitch shifts (±10-20%) that maintain character while adding variety

Timbral Variations

Changes in tonal quality and frequency emphasis while preserving identity

Duration Variations

Slightly longer or shorter versions with adjusted release times

Dynamic Variations

Variations in loudness, attack, and impact intensity

🎮

Perfect for Game Audio

Most game engines support random selection from sound arrays. Generate 5-10 variations of frequently heard sounds like footsteps, UI clicks, or weapon effects.

Creating Sound Families

Sound families are collections of related sounds with consistent identity but appropriate variation. Perfect for UI systems, character actions, or environmental interactions that occur frequently.

Family Characteristics

Consistent Identity

All sounds recognizably belong to the same family

Appropriate Variation

Enough difference to prevent monotony, not so much it feels random

Balanced Diversity

Each member distinctly different from others in the family

Production Consistency

Uniform quality, processing, and loudness across all variations

Evolving SFX

Create sound effects that transform and evolve over time. Perfect for risers, transitions, power-ups, abilities charging, or any situation where you need dynamic progression.

Evolution Paths

Gradual Evolution

Smooth, continuous transformation from start to end characteristics. Perfect for risers, builds, and transitions.

Stepped Evolution

Distinct phases or stages of evolution. Great for charge-up effects, ability levels, or multi-stage transformations.

Random Evolution

Unpredictable but coherent evolution. Creates organic, living soundscapes and ambient textures.

Creative Applications

🎮 Interactive Game Audio

Create variation pools for all repeated sounds: footsteps, UI, weapons, interactions. Use evolving SFX for ability charge-ups and power states.

Example: Generate 10 footstep variations for each surface type (wood, metal, grass, etc.)

🎬 Film Sound Design

Extend short library sounds to match exact scene durations. Create evolving ambiences that build tension or release over time.

Example: Extend a 2-second riser to 8 seconds for a specific cut

📱 UI/UX Design

Generate subtle variations of UI sounds so repeated interactions don't become annoying. Create evolving feedback for progress indicators.

Example: 5 variations each for success, error, click, and notification sounds

🎵 Music Production

Create variation pools of percussion samples. Generate evolving textures and risers for transitions and builds.

Example: Generate 8 snare variations with consistent character but unique transients

Best Practices

Use Wubble-Generated SFX

Extension and variation currently work only with SFX generated on Wubble. This ensures the AI has full context of the sound's structure for optimal results.

Trust the AI's Duration Choice

The AI automatically determines the optimal extension duration based on acoustic analysis. This ensures the extended sound maintains coherence and doesn't feel artificially stretched.

Use Clear Prompts

When requesting extensions or variations, be clear and concise. Simple prompts like "Extend this sound effect" or "Create variations of this" work well.

Generate Enough Variations

For frequently heard sounds, ask for multiple variations (5-8 or more) to prevent repetition fatigue in games and interactive media.

Test in Context

Always test variations in your actual use case. What sounds different in isolation might feel the same in a busy mix or gameplay.

Use Evolving SFX Strategically

Reserve evolving SFX for moments that need progression: builds, power-ups, transitions. Not every sound needs to evolve over time.
