Control exactly what collaborators can do with your projects using Wubble's flexible permission system. Set appropriate access levels to protect your work while enabling effective collaboration.

Permission levels

Wubble offers four main permission levels, each designed for different collaboration scenarios.

  • View: Can see and play the project but cannot make changes or leave comments
  • Comment: Can view the project and leave timestamped feedback but cannot edit
  • Edit: Can modify the project, including audio tracks, effects, and arrangements
  • Admin: Full control including sharing, permission management, and deletion (owner only)

View permissions

View permission is the most restrictive level, perfect for showcasing your work without allowing changes.

  • Play and listen to the project
  • View project settings and track information
  • See version history (but cannot restore)
  • Cannot download, export, or comment
  • Cannot see activity log or other collaborators
  • Ideal for: Portfolio showcases, client previews, public sharing

Comment permissions

Comment permission allows feedback without editing access, ideal for review workflows.

  • All View permissions included
  • Leave timestamped comments on specific sections
  • Reply to existing comment threads
  • Mention other collaborators in comments
  • View activity log and see who else has access
  • Cannot edit audio or project settings
  • Ideal for: Client feedback, stakeholder review, quality assurance

Edit permissions

Edit permission grants full creative control, suitable for trusted team members and co-creators.

  • All Comment permissions included
  • Modify audio tracks, effects, and mixing
  • Add, remove, and rearrange tracks
  • Change project settings and metadata
  • Export and download the project (if granted)
  • Create new versions and access version history
  • Cannot delete project or manage collaborators (unless admin)
  • Ideal for: Team members, co-producers, sound engineers

Additional permissions

Fine-tune access with additional permission flags that work across all levels.

  • Export: Allow collaborators to export and download audio files
  • Share: Let collaborators invite additional people to the project
  • Copy: Allow collaborators to duplicate the project to their own workspace
  • Download Project File: Enable downloading the .wubble project file
  • View Analytics: Show detailed usage and listening statistics

Tips

  • Start with restrictive permissions and increase as needed rather than the reverse
  • Use "View + Comment" for client review workflows to collect feedback without edits
  • Grant "Edit + Export" to mixing engineers so they can work on the audio
  • Enable "Copy" permission for collaborators who want to create remixes or variations
  • Disable "Share" permission to prevent collaborators from inviting others without your approval
  • Review permissions regularly, especially when projects are complete or collaborators leave
  • Use team workspaces with default permissions to streamline recurring collaborations
  • Document your permission decisions in project notes for team reference

Notes

  • Only the project owner (Admin) can delete projects or transfer ownership.
  • Permission changes take effect immediately and are logged in the activity history.
  • Collaborators receive notifications when their permissions change.
  • Free plans support basic permissions (View, Comment, Edit). Advanced permissions require Pro or higher.
  • You can set default permissions for new collaborators in your account settings.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I give different people different permission levels?

Yes! Each collaborator can have their own permission level. For example, you can give clients Comment access while giving your team Edit access, and mixing engineers Edit + Export access.

What happens if I downgrade someone's permissions?

They'll immediately lose access to features above their new permission level. For example, downgrading from Edit to Comment prevents them from making changes, but their previous edits remain. They'll receive a notification about the change.

Can someone with Edit permission delete my project?

No. Only the project owner (Admin) can delete projects. Editors can modify content but cannot delete the project, remove other collaborators, or change permissions.

How do I prevent collaborators from exporting my work?

By default, only project owners can export. When granting Edit permission, leave the "Export" flag disabled. This allows editing but prevents downloading finished files.

Can collaborators see each other?

Yes, anyone with Comment or Edit permission can see the full collaborator list and activity log. View-only users cannot see other collaborators or activity.

What's the difference between Share permission and Admin?

Share permission lets collaborators invite others but not change existing permissions or delete the project. Admin permission (owner only) has complete control including deletion and ownership transfer.
